Topical Heparin Therapy in Stasis Ulcer: A Case Report

چکیده
Venous leg ulcers are the late and severe clinical form of chronic venous disease. Superficial venous system, deep venous system or perforating veins between them which are affected by reflux, obstruction or inability of the muscle pump, play an important role in pathophysiology. Compression bandages and wound care are the basis of treatment for venous ulcers. For ulcers which do not respond to these treatments, surgical procedures may be considered. There is a need for a multidisciplinary approach for the treatment and follow-up of venous leg ulcers. Cutaneous lesions like stasis ulcer are common in patients with chronic renal failure. Healing of chronic ulcer is difficult and can take time. Here we emphasized the effects of topical use of un-fractionated heparin on wound healing of an elderly male patient with chronic renal failure.

An Alternative Therapy for Recurrent Stasis Ulcers in Chronic Venous Insufficiency: Venocuff
Chronic venous insufficiency may cause stasis ulcers that significantly impact on the quality of life. Many methods have been described for preventing or treating these ulcers. However, stasis ulcers often recur as a result of continuing venous insufficiency. Here we report a 30-year-old male patient with chronic venous insufficiency. He was admitted to the hospital owing to recurrent stasis ul...
متن کاملNew Therapy Using Omega-3-Acid Ethyl Esters for Decubitus Ulcers and Stasis Dermatitis: A Case Report
INTRODUCTION In daily practice, it is common to experience difficulty in treating decubitus ulcers (pressure ulcers, also known as decubitus ulcers) and stasis dermatitis of the lower limbs. We hereby report that omega-3-acid ethyl esters were remarkably effective when administered to cases of refractory pressure ulcers and stasis dermatitis for the purpose of improving the blood flow and promo...
متن کاملStewart-Bluefarb syndrome: review of the literature and case report of chronic ulcer treatment with heparan sulphate (Cacipliq20®).
Stewart-Bluefarb syndrome (SBS), also known as acroangiodermatitis or pseudo-Kaposi, is a condition rarely encountered. It involves skin lesions that are clinically similar to Kaposi sarcoma but are histologically different, and are usually secondary to an underlying arteriovenous fistula. Treatment of this disease usually involves the correction of the underlying vascular abnormality, with the...
متن کاملComparison of leeching and heparin therapy in management of acute venous congestion of limbs in rat
Acute venous congestion leads to blood stasis in the tissue and impaired blood perfusion. Using medicinal leech is an old method for reducing tissue congestion. There are numerous factors in leech saliva and hirudin that have important roles in the leeching beneficial effect. In this study, an animal study was performed to compare leech therapy with heparin therapy in the treatment of acute ven...
متن کاملQuality control in chronic wound management: the role of local povidone-iodine (Betadine) therapy.
BACKGROUND The treatment of venous leg ulcers is often inadequate, because of incorrect diagnosis, overuse of systemic antibiotics and inadequate use of compression therapy. Stasis dermatitis related to chronic venous insufficiency accompanied by infected superficial ulcers must be differentiated from erysipelas, cellulitis and contact eczema. OBJECTIVES To assess the effectiveness of (1) top...
